In May 2025, we celebrate a special milestone: it will be 75 years since the Works Councils Act (WOR) was introduced. On 14 May 2025, a festive congress will be held; a day filled with celebratory activities, leading speakers, and interactive workshops on current topics.

75 years of WOR

On 4 May 1950, the first Works Councils Act came into force, and it looked very different from today. Until the major revision in 1979, the law firmly supported entrepreneurs. They were part of their own works council and were often the chairperson – usually a man at that time. Since then, much has changed, partly due to numerous court rulings, including those from the Enterprise Chamber. Are you curious about the impact of the WOR, how you can truly make a difference as a works council member, or do you want to delve into current topics around employee participation? Or are you a manager looking for insights to collaborate more effectively with the works council and strengthen employee participation within your organization? This is your chance! In various workshops, experts from the employee participation sector will share their knowledge and help you get the most out of employee participation. You will not only receive practical tools to strengthen the role of the works council but also valuable guidelines to promote dialogue between management, supervisors, and employee participation bodies. De Clercq also provides a workshop:

Structuring employee participation

The world is constantly changing. Legislation and regulations evolve, and organizations develop. How do you ensure that employee participation is future-proof in these circumstances? What (future) developments affect the organization and employee participation? How do you structure your employee participation to ensure it has an impact? In this workshop, we will address current and (future) developments. We will discuss various methods for consultation and influence and provide guidelines to help employee participation bodies truly make a difference within the organization.
