Education and Career

Joyleen studied law at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where she completed both her Bachelor’s degree and her Master’s degrees in Private Law and Financial Law. She began her career as an attorney and completed the Professional Training for Lawyers during her first years in practice. Over time, her focus increasingly shifted toward civil real estate law, and in 2021 she completed the specialization course in Tenancy Law. Given her predominantly litigation-oriented practice, she pursued the Advanced Course in Civil Procedure at the Academy for Legal Practice in 2022. In 2023, she transitioned to an in-house role within a supermarket chain, where she advised the business units for real estate, franchise, and supply chain.

Daily Practice

Joyleen advises and litigates on matters such as lease, purchase, ground lease, and anterior agreements. She guides clients through the purchase, sale, leasing, and letting of real estate. She is characterized by her no-nonsense approach, addressing matters firmly on substance while remaining considerate toward the people involved.

Advising on real estate sales

Provided legal guidance, negotiation support, and drafted all agreements involved in a sale-and-leaseback transaction.

Advising on lease agreements

Advised on and drafted a new commercial lease agreement (Articles 7:230a / 290 Dutch Civil Code).

Eviction proceedings

Represented both landlords and tenants in summary proceedings concerning the enforcement of a non-final eviction order.

Litigation on termination of a residential lease
