Ymke specializes in employment law. She primarily advises employers and works councils across various sectors, including healthcare institutions and public sector organizations. She also regularly represents individual employees and executives. Ymke handles a wide range of employment law matters, including employee participation, guiding dismissal procedures, and advising on incapacity for work.

Ymke is a committed legal professional who focuses on providing sustainable, practical solutions, always keeping her client’s best interests at heart.

Education and career

In 2024, Ymke obtained her Master’s degree in Employment Law from Leiden University. She also completed a Master’s degree in Health Law at the University of Amsterdam. Her thesis, titled “The Underperforming Medical Specialist,” combined both legal disciplines. In addition, she wrote a thesis entitled “AI in the Recruitment Process,” in which she explored both the potential of AI and the associated risks, particularly the risk of algorithmic discrimination.

Alongside her studies, Ymke engaged in various extracurricular activities, including multiple student internships at law firms, volunteer work at the Child and Youth Law Centre in The Hague, and serving on the board of the Employment Law Master’s Association Sine Labore Nihil. After gaining a year of work experience at a niche law firm specializing in employment law, she joined De Clercq Advocaten Notariaat in June 2025.

Daily practice

Ymke handles a wide range of employment law matters, including dismissal, reorganizations, incapacity for work, and drafting employment agreements. She also advises works councils and executive boards on consultation and approval procedures. Ymke has a particular interest in employment law within the healthcare sector.
