De Clercq Lawyers Notary is pleased to announce that it has officially received B Corp certification. With this certification, the firm joins a global network of organizations that contribute to a sustainable and responsible society.
“We are very pleased to join the B Corp community,” says Natascha van Duuren, partner at De Clercq. “We have long been committed to working in an ethical, responsible, and positive manner. Now, we can also proudly call ourselves a B Corp.”
B Corps are companies that voluntarily meet high standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. The certification is awarded by B Lab, a global nonprofit organization that evaluates companies based on their impact on employees, customers, communities, and the environment.
To achieve B Corp certification, De Clercq underwent a comprehensive and intensive assessment process that address the entirety of its operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of at least 80 (out of 200) points. De Clercq scores 88.4 our of 200 points (click here for our certification). To complete the certification, we legally embedded our commitment to purpose beyond profit in our company articles. Every three years, B Corps must recertify to uphold certification.
“We believe that as legal professionals, we have a responsibility not only to our clients but also to our employees, the society and the environment,” adds Van Duuren. “Becoming a B Corp perfectly aligns with our values and strengthens our commitment to embedding sustainability and social impact into our core business practices.”
