In this section, we introduce a colleague to you each month. This month, it is Cindy Koningferander’s turn — Attorney within the Real Estate & Government team. Curious about her story and what motivates her? Read on!
My career as an attorney began at a small law firm in The Hague.
There, I handled matters in the fields of, among other things, attachments, spatial administrative law (including zoning plans), administrative enforcement, administrative fines, and imminent intervention by the government.
Since 1 February 2025, I have been working at De Clercq as an attorney in the Real Estate & Government practice group.
I have a broad legal background and have previously gained practical experience at various government bodies, such as the Tax Administration, the Province of Flevoland, the District Court, and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.
As an attorney, I deal with a wide range of real estate–related disputes, such as administrative enforcement cases, property conversions and subdivisions (housing ordinances), disputes concerning the lease of commercial premises, and conflicts involving the designation of national heritage monuments. I also handle environmental law matters, for example relating to zoning plans and environmental permits.
De Clercq distinguishes itself from other firms because its lawyers are committed to guiding legal disputes toward the right solution without losing sight of the client’s interests. Considerable effort is put into each case to serve the client as effectively as possible. Equally important is the fact that De Clercq has a very pleasant and collegial office atmosphere.
The advice I give clients is to gather as many relevant facts as possible before approaching an attorney. This is not always easy, but it can significantly speed up the progress of a case as well as the communication with the attorney. A lawyer can only properly assess the legal aspects once the factual background has been clearly mapped out.
Real estate is constantly evolving. It is the ambition of my colleagues and me to assist clients effectively through these developments and to safeguard their interests.
In daily life, I enjoy working out at the gym at least three times a week (cardio and strength training), and I love cooking. That may seem contradictory, but I particularly enjoy preparing healthy and nutritious meals. In addition, I sing regularly and enjoy writing spoken word and poetry. There is so much beauty in life to appreciate.
