In early November, our attorneys Arjen van Rijn and David Wenniger delivered a course on Heritage and Monument Law for staff members of several municipalities in North Brabant.

Course on Heritage and Monument Law

During the course, the following topics were discussed:

  • The legal framework of heritage and monument law
  • Monument protection and the new regime under the Environment and Planning Act
  • The designation of monuments by the national government and municipalities
  • The owner’s obligation to preserve a designated monument
  • Renovation, maintenance, and demolition of monuments
  • Enforcement of owner obligations by the municipality

Both theory and day-to-day practice were extensively covered.

Arjen and David are specialised in heritage and monument law and regularly provide advice and litigate in this field.

On the website www.monumentenrecht.com, Arjen and David publish the latest developments in the area of monument law.
